Therapeutic Treatment
In adults as well as in children and infants older than 3 months, the « fingertip » rule
can be used to measure the amount of cream to be applied onto a given surface.
The fingertip amount corresponds to the quantity of cream placed in a continuous line
on the entire length of the distal phalange of an adult’s index finger.
Dosing the cream in this way allows for treatment of a skin surface corresponding to the surface
of 2 adult hands (or approximately 250 to 300 cm2). A fingertip unit corresponds to 0.5 g of product.
A 30 g tube contains 60 fingertip units.
The “fingertip rule” can help understand the right dose
When treating larger areas
of the body, the number of tubes used must be monitored.
It is recommended to apply
the product in evenly-spaced dots, then spread over the skin while lightly massaging until the product is completely absorbed.
